I believe there is no glass ceiling in this organisation - if you have the passion, desire, enthusiasm and willingness to learn you can achieve anything
Hi, I'm Alex, currently a National Account Director at Coors.
Before I talk about work, a bit about how I enjoy my leisure time! I'm a great outdoor person, I love to spend time outside, walking, gardening, and my absolute passion in the winter is ski-ing. I'm a member of the local gym and try to go three times a week, though I have to be honest, I don't always make it - but I do try!
I've recently completed the Great North Run for the first time and enjoyed training for that. I love to travel; over the past few years I've been to some fantastic destinations with my husband and experienced some wonderful sights and cultures. There are many more places I want to visit, I'm working my way through a long list!
I also love spending time with my family and friends - retail therapy, the cinema, theatre, entertaining at home and any sort of social gatherings.
I joined the company in August '88. I have to say the time since then has absolutely flown by, and I've been given some wonderful opportunities in which to grow and develop my skills and experience. I've spent time in Training, Telesales, Customer Service, Tele-Business Unit, Sales and Marketing, I've been Regional Director for the Free On-Trade, the Multiple On-Trade looking after Regional Brewers in the North. In January of this year I became the Director for New Routes to Market, and I am just about to begin a new and exciting role of Director of Strategy and Future Performance in the Multiple on Trade, which is all about shaping how we need to operate with our customers in this highly challenging market place. All of these roles have given me some great opportunities and learnings.
I have to say I don't believe there is any glass ceiling in this organisation - if you have the right attitude, passion, willingness and capability to learn and grow your skill base, you can achieve anything.
It is a great place to work. This industry, although very tough, is thoroughly enjoyable. You have to remember we're talking about people's leisure time - how they choose to relax, enjoy life and spend their leisure pound - and if we in our roles can make that more enjoyable for our consumers then that's an absolutely fantastic way to work.
I wish you great success in whatever career path you decide to follow, and always look out for ways in which you can continually grow your own skills and understanding! Best of luck, bye for now!
