Lara (HR)

There are lots of opportunities to make a difference and try out new things; I guess a lot of it comes down to the people.

Hi there. I'm Lara, a HR Manager at Coors.

What can I tell you about me?

Lara

Well, I joined Coors in September 2003 having just finished my degree. Like most graduates I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do but I liked the idea of HR and I wanted to work for a Company with opportunities to develop so, when I was offered a position with Coors as a HR Graduate Trainee, I jumped at the opportunity!

In that time I've had a number of different roles starting as a HR Advisor under the wing of an experienced HR Manager whilst I learned the ropes. After that a really enjoyable project-based move into our Off-Trade Sales followed which allowed me to experience life at the sharp end. I then made a move into my first management role back in HR in the Summer of 2005.

Since then I've stayed in HR and had lots of different roles and responsibilities and more opportunities than I can even begin to do justice here!

Most recently I've been HR Manager for our Marketing & Central Functions as well as managing a great team of HR Assistants who support the business's HR admin requirements. Now I'm starting something completely different and leaving HR to join our Logistics department on a 6 month project. After that I plan to return to HR in a different role yet again but who knows what the future will bring?!?!

It' not all work though! In my spare time, one of my real passions is music, especially live, loud, music and my favourite place to be is at the front row of a big gig being absolutely squashed to bits!! I'm also a huge rugby and Formula One racing fan and as well as just enjoying time with friends and family, I've been known to indulge in a spot of retail therapy every now and then!

Overall it's hard to pick out exactly why I love working for Coors but I do. I guess a lot of it comes down to the people. There's a strong team spirit and camaraderie as well as the business focus and determination you'd expect and I've been surprised to find how willing people at all levels are to help and take time for you from day one. This isn't the kind of Company with stuffy managers or sharp suits, it's friendly, flexible and informal - but we still expect a lot out of our people so there's not much chance to rest on your laurels.

It's the kind of place where if you're determined and passionate to do well, there are lots of opportunities to make a difference and to try out new things. It's a tough time in the industry right now but in a way that's one of the things that make it more rewarding when we succeed!

I hope this has been helpful and given you some insight into what it's like here. You're probably considering coming to work here if you're reading this and so I wish you lots of success. Hopefully our paths will cross over a pint of Carling or two!

All the best,

Lara
